"God Encounter"

May 12, 2005

Larry & I have dreamed of the opportunity to get into the school campuses here. About 4 months ago we had a new lady attend our International Church, I went to dinner with her and found out she was a teacher at the British School of Las Palmas. I shared with her our desire and that we had a team coming the first of May. Fay went directly the next morning to her headmaster and got Larry an appointment to meet with him. The headmaster welcomed us to the campus. Through this contact we met another Headmaster of a neighboring school, Oakley College, who also allowed us to come in.

On Thursday, May 12, the first 2 Assemblies were held. The RYI group, which stands for Reinvent Your Identity, from the Masters Commission of Rockford, IL motivated these students in self-esteem, selecting the right friends, making right choices and believing in their purpose for living and that they had they ability to go for their dreams. Under the leadership of Pastor Jeremy DeWeerdt, kids/teens were challenged to make a life change. The students hung on to every word the team spoke and the teachers were so excited about the message we had to share. The school director, Mrs. Barbara, said it was the first assembly they had ever had and that this had been the best thing they had ever done for their students.

When we left we met the School Headmaster, Mr. Donat, who could not say enough about the team and gave us an open invitation to his School anytime we wanted to come, but not only to his school, Mr. Donat turned out to be the President of the School Association, and gave us a platform for any future ministry in the Schools in his association. What a miracle. What a God ordained encounter!
